Extended University Council Meeting, May 14, 2026
On May 14, 2026, Professor Boufendi Toufik, Rector of the University of August 20, 1955, Skikda, chaired an expanded meeting of the University Council in the university's main meeting hall.
This meeting was dedicated to discussing a number of vital issues. The Council gave top priority to the organizational arrangements for the second semester exams to ensure they proceed under ideal pedagogical conditions. The meeting also addressed preparations for the 70th anniversary of Student Day (May 19), reaffirming the university's pride in these milestones of national history. Furthermore, the meeting included a thorough evaluation of security and logistical matters, reviewing the cleanliness and security situation and the university's financial status. This review was conducted with a vision aimed at rationalizing expenditures and directing resources towards development priorities, with a focus on accelerating digitalization by activating the electronic access system (RFID) at all entrances to the university campus, in accordance with the instructions of the supervising ministry.
At the conclusion of the session, the University Director emphasized the paramount importance of effective field coordination among all departments, particularly with the Internal Security Department and the private security company, and the development of an effective campus security plan. He stressed that concerted efforts are the only way to ensure the academic year concludes smoothly and peacefully, while fully safeguarding the well-being of individuals and protecting the facilities that represent a shared asset for the university community.
